I’m a PhD student in Electrical Engineering. My work focuses on making buildings smarter by using low-cost sensors and machine learning to understand indoor human activity and how I can use that to improve the QoL in built environments.
Lawrence Hiquiana
I am currently pursuing his PhD in Electrical Engineering at RPI. I focus on renewable energy integration in the power grid, so we can move toward a more sustainable and reliable power grid.
Who is Lawrence?
I have always been interested in technology and where the industry as a whole is moving. I used to love to tinker and try out new things. I still remember when I got my first smartphone, the legendary HTC One M7, I flashed my first ROM onto the phone to get stock Android in less than 6 months of owning it.
I won’t lie, I have fallen behind the times a bit, especially with AI. I know the basics, but honestly I sometimes feel like how my parents felt when I was explaining group chats to them. But that is why I have friend like Diyanko! Someone who is always trying new tools out and is always willing to walk me through them!
Other than capturing the conversations of Diyanko trying to get me up to speed on where AI is, I also would love to share how I am integrating some of these tools into my own interests.

Who is Diyanko?
I like building things end-to-end, from hardware design and prototypes to data pipelines, processing, and user-facing tools. I also care a lot about technical documentation and process standardization. I’m the kind of person who enjoys organizing files and designing systems to run my life. Not only that, I have always loved being at the bleeding edge of technology, whether that is AI tools or the newest sensors for monitoring rooms!
Speaking of AI, I have adopted the mindset of “if AI can do it for me, why not?” That has led me to trying out every new tool that comes out. I have integrated AI into every aspect of my life, so long as it gives me value I will use it. I have quickly become the AI point person to my friends and coworkers and love sharing everything I have learned, like what I do with Lawrence!
